Chief Commercial Officer

Job Type: Full Time
Location: Perth / Geraldton, Gascoyne & Midwest WA

Salary: $210,000 – $230,000 per year

Position Overview:

This is a full-time role that can be based in Perth or Geraldton Western Australia

The Chief Commercial Officer is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team responsible for driving the organisation’s commercial strategy, revenue growth, and market expansion. This role demands a strategic thinker with strong business acumen, leadership skills, and a focus on building and maintaining successful commercial relationships.

Responsibilities include:

  • Build and foster people capability across the organisation and nurture a positive and accountable work culture.
  • Develop budgets to support commercial activity to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the Corporation and its subsidiaries.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyse variances, and implement corrective actions for agreed budgets and timelines.
  • Advise the CEO on commercial strategies to develop standards, policies and procedures that are well understood and adhered to in the organisation.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, as directed by the CEO, which will include Members, local communities, government, regulators, NGOs and industry.
  • Manage the day-to-day commercial operations of the Corporation and its subsidiaries in accordance with the agreed Strategy and annual Operational Plan.
  • Explore, source, pursue new commercial opportunities, partnerships and business opportunities for the corporation.
    Explore and develop new nation building businesses and formulate contracts, strategies for growth
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with external agencies to implement the ILUA requirements to the required timeframes.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team on implementing the strategy, ILUA requirements and be proactive in creating new opportunities for products and services.
  • Work within and comply with all YSRC policies, procedures and established guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with all colleagues, teams and stakeholders throughout the course of work

About You: Mandatory or Legislative

  • A tertiary degree in a business / finance or associated demonstrated experienceExperience in a fast-paced organisation, preferably in commercial organisation
  • Experience in strategy, strategic planning and commercial activity for a corporation or its subsidiaries.
  • Proven due diligence, and commercial negotiation skills.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills and strong financial and commercial acumen.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build strong relationships and influence key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Strong business writing and presentation skills, confidently able to present to senior decision makers.
  • Resilient and self-managing with the ability to work autonomously, take initiative and reliably deliver on tight deadlines.
  • Support, lead and guide the teams, fostering a cohesive unit and ensuring good communication between the Geraldton and Perth Offices.
  • Experience in risk management and using risk as part of the commercial assessment processes.

Nation Building & Grant Writing Officer

Job Type: Part Time
Location: Perth / Geraldton, Gascoyne & Midwest WA
Support: Indigenous & Multicultural Services (Community Services & Development)
Salary: $100,000 – $110,000 pro rata

Position Overview:

This is a part-time role that can be based in Perth or Geraldton Western Australia.

The purpose of the Nation Building and Grant Writer role is to proactively seek out grant opportunities which support Yamatji Southern Regional Corporations activities aimed at meeting its Indigenous Land User Agreement obligations and which support cultural and economic growth activities and initiatives.

Support the development of a National Building business aimed at advancing knowledge, awareness of and respect for Yamatji culture as well as supporting proponents and counterparts develop and meet their Reconciliation Action Plan and Environmental & Social Governance commitments.

The role is critical in bringing together the cultural and economic components of Yamatji Southern Regional Corporation for the advancement of the Yamatji Nation

Responsibilities include:

  • Identify funding opportunities applicable to heritage, commercial growth, the lands portfolio, business development and nation building and feed back to respective teams.
  • Develop submissions, grant applications and presentations for a variety of stakeholders to support successful execution of YSRC projects and initiatives.
  • Develop YSRCs nation building business, from identifying and defining service offerings to the development and execution of services.
  • Develop the marketing and communications strategy promoting nation building activities.
  • Undertake research and conduct analysis to gather information and data to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other teams across the organisation on the delivery and coordination of engagement with proponents.
  • Develop and manage the CRM component of the ‘Keeping Place’.
  • Work within and comply with all YSRC policies, procedures, and established guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with all colleagues, teams, and stakeholders throughout the course of work

Commercial Manager

Position Overview:

The Commercial Manager role plays a pivotal role in driving the economic growth and financial sustainability of our organisation. This position is responsible for overseeing the commercial activities, developing strategic business initiatives, and ensuring that our economic ventures align with our community vision and values.

This position blends traditional business responsibilities for the management of Yamatji Land and sea assets, protection of traditional owner and sacred sites along with commercial activity required for managing land trust holdings and corporate operations in accordance with strategy objectives and operational business unit plans.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies in alignment with the organisation’s goals and objectives.
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities and partnerships to diversify and strengthen revenue streams.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and financial performance of commercial activities.
  • Ensure effective financial controls and reporting are in place to meet regulatory requirements and organisational standards.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with commercial ventures to protect the organisation’s interests.

    Provide commercial solutions, communications and advice to the executives aligned with strategic objectives and Yamatji values.

About You – Mandatory or Legislative:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a commercial management role, preferably within a community or non-profit organisation.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in managing budgets, financial planning, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement commercial operational plans.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of indigenous culture and community dynamics, with a commitment to promoting cultural values in business practices.

Administration Officer (Reception/Yamatji Business Support)

Position Overview:

This is a full-time role based in Geraldton Western Australia for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants only.

The Administration Officer – Reception/Yamatji Business Support role acts as the welcoming face of the organisation to maintain a positive first impression of our organisation. The role involves managing the reception area, greeting stakeholders, handling inquiries, and ensuring a smooth flow of administrative processes across the organisation.  The role requires coordinating appointments, managing incoming calls, emails, data, mail, and stakeholder inquiries. This position will also support the Yamatji Business Support Manager with the seamless functioning of our various business operations within the organisation. The role focus is business development across our three pillars: business incubation, regional procurement, and training to support the set-up of new businesses or improve existing businesses in our community.

Responsibilities include:

  • Primary contact for all stakeholder calls and enquiries.
  • Coordinate meetings including agendas and relevant papers.
